October-November

October is the best month of the year to plant in the low desert, with November close

behind. Once daytime temperatures have eased and nights are noticeably cooler, you

can begin planting, pruning, and feeding again.

Plant vegetable transplants: asparagus, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower,

celery, and lettuce.

Plant herbs: rosemary, thyme, sage,

chives

Plant cool weather plants: pansies, alyssum, celosia, coreopsis, lavender, marigolds, petunias, salvia, snapdragons

Reduce watering frequency.

December

Have frost cloth, or sheets and towels, on hand for covering plants on nights with winter

frost.
